ERIN, Tenn. (October 11) — The McKenzie Rebels traveled to Houston County to take on the Fighting Irish in regional action. The Rebels continued their strong season play picking their fourth win in Region 6A.

McKENZIE (October 4) — Pepsi MidAmerica made a donation Friday of golf balls, Gatorade and water to the McKenzie High School boys golf team, which is headed to the state tournament this week after claiming the region championship.

McKENZIE (October 4) — McKenzie High School hosted Perry County Friday for a region football contest, the climax of a Homecoming week jam-packed with activities. The Rebels rode the Homecoming hype high into the game and put on a show for the large crowd, dominating the visiting Vikings 56-0.

McKENZIE (September 26) — McKenzie High School hosted Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central for a Region 6-1A football contest Thursday night, moved up from Friday because of Hurricane Helene.

McKENZIE (September 20) — McKenzie High School hosted Class 3A Scotts Hill Friday. The Rebels didn’t afford the Lions even a semblance of momentum in the contest, scoring five times in the first quarter and stifling the Scotts Hill offense to -47 yards overall. McKenzie added four more touchdowns before the break and, after a mercifully short second half, claimed the 63-0 victory.

McKENZIE (September 17) — McKenzie High School hosted Huntingdon Tuesday for a District 12A soccer match. The Fillies scored three goals in each half to claim a 6-1 victory.

McKENZIE (September 19) — The McKenzie Middle School Lady Rebels wrapped up the softball season Thursday as they hosted Bradford and celebrated Eighth Grade Night. The Lady Rebels won a back-and-forth battle, 5-4, over the Lady Red Devils.

McKENZIE (September 17) — McKenzie Middle School hosted Huntingdon Tuesday for the final home football game of the season. The game was rescheduled from the previous week due to weather. The Rebels scored two early touchdowns and held the Mustangs to one score for a 16-6 victory.

McKENZIE (September 13) — The McKenzie High School Rebels began region play Friday as they hosted the McEwen Warriors for another rainy affair at Randy Thomas Field. McEwen mustered an early touchdown for a 7-7 tie, but the Rebels ran away for a 49-7 victory.

McKENZIE (September 6) — Mother Nature seemed to be the Rebels’ worst enemy Friday night, and a wet football may be the only thing that can slow down one of the most prolific passing offenses in the state. Fortunately, the arm of Tate Surber is just one of McKenzie’s many tools and the top-ranked Class 1A Rebels outlasted the rain and the Class 4A Chester County Eagles, 20-13.

HUNTINGDON (August 29) — Huntingdon Middle School hosted McKenzie softball Thursday. The Fillies played well on both sides of the ball, including a shutout by pitcher Marcie Mitchell, for a 9-0 victory.

HUNTINGDON (August 23) - Sometimes, you can believe the hype.
A breathtakingly massive audience gathered at Paul Ward Stadium Friday to see the highly-anticipated season opener between the Mustangs and the visiting McKenzie Rebels, and the teams put on a show worthy of the storied rivalry.
Huntingdon seemed to be in control with two early touchdowns, but McKenzie tied the game at 14-14 before halftime. After trading TDs in the third quarter, the Rebels took their first lead, 24-21, with a field goal to start a wild fourth quarter. Four more touchdowns meant four lead changes, and the Rebels took a final lead with just 22 seconds on the clock for a 38-35 victory.
