McKENZIE (April 13) - McKenzie Middle School hosted its annual honors program on April 13 at McKenzie High School. Top academic students were honored for their achievements. more
The West Carroll Special School District voted unanimously to approve Preston Caldwell’s contract as the new director of schools at Tuesday night’s school board meeting, April 6. The board also unanimously approved $36,357 to be distributed to school cafeteria staff in the form of a one time bonus. All school board meetings are open to the public. more
McKENZIE — The 2020-21 school year at McKenzie Special School District included daily temperature checks of students and the mandatory wearing of masks. In the April 6 meeting of the Board of Education, members voted to eliminate the daily temperature checks for the remainder of the school year. more
Haley Brasfield, 17, a senior at McKenzie High School, was crowned Miss McKenzie 2021 during pageants at McKenzie High School on Saturday, April 10. more
CARROLL COUNTY — Fourteen high school seniors from Carroll County were recognized by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce for their academic excellence, by scoring a 29 or better on the national ACT test. The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce hosted a luncheon on April 12 at Mallard’s Restaurant to honor these students. more
McKENZIE — McKenzie High School juniors learned about the swine operations of Tosh Farms, based in Henry. The juniors were apprised of the operations and the job opportunities at the livestock, trucking, and farming company. Three baby pigs were in the auditorium for the students to see. Those three went to new homes at the end of the program. more
McKenzie resident Jan Humphreys Latimer, is returning to the Tennessee College of Applied Technology-McKenzie to assume the role of vice-president, vacated when John Penn Ridgeway was elected as mayor of Henry County. more

McKENZIE (March 20) — Members of the McKenzie High School Class of 2021 and their parents hosted the 2021 version of “Great Pretenders” as a fund raiser for the annual Project Graduation, a post-graduation celebration of the class. more
MARCH 25 — The Tennessee Board of Regents today appointed Willie Huffman as the next president of the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology at Paris and McKenzie. more
ATWOOD (March 27) — West Carroll Special School District has a new director of schools. Preston Caldwell of Milan was appointed by the Board of Education after an almost two-hour interview on Thursday evening at the West Carroll Junior/Senior High School. He was one of two candidates to interview. The other was Rory Hinso, a supervisor in the Gibson County School District. more

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Valley Authority, in partnership with Carroll County Electric and Bicentennial Volunteers Incorporated (a TVA retiree organization), recently awarded McKenzie High School, $5,000 for a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education project. more
HUNTINGDON (March 18) — Porsche McClerking is the new principal at Huntingdon High School effective July 1. He was selected by HHS Principal Dr. Jonathan Kee, who was appointed to serve as the new director of schools beginning July 1. more
HUNTINGDON (March 18) — Huntingdon Schools has another new sport for the 2021-22 school year: high school girls’ volleyball. During a 7 a.m. meeting of the Huntingdon School Board on March 18, the board approved the addition of the high school sport. Earlier this year, the school also approved middle school and high school soccer. more
McKENZIE — Members of the 2020 McKenzie Middle School football team celebrated their undefeated season (7-0) with a scaled-down event because of the pandemic. more
