HUNTINGDON (August 19) — Carroll County Mayor Joseph Butler officially swore in Morris Rogers on as a Commissioner for Carroll County. Rogers was elected to represent District 4 in the August election. In filling a vacancy through election, Rogers will begin serving immediately. more
TREZEVANT (August 13) — Tuesday’s meeting of the Trezevant Board of Aldermen was heavy on discussion but light on action (for now) as two issues dominated the two-hour meeting: the fallout from last month’s drug testing of street department employees and the excessive number of cats roaming town. more

TENNESSEE (August 12) — Average gasoline prices in Tennessee decreased 8.6 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.97/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. Prices in Tennessee are 13.0 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 44.4 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has declined 3.4 cents in the last week and stands at $3.72 per gallon- the lowest level since January, 2022, over 900 days ago. more

ATWOOD (August 8) — The West Carroll school board met on Thursday August 8 and approved the fiscal year 2024-’25 budget. The $11.6 million budget includes $1.5 million in improvements to the Primary and Elementary schools as well as new asphalt paving for all three schools in the district, some of which is already completed. more
McKENZIE (August 6) — The McKenzie Special School District Board of Education approved tennis as a new high school sport and new scoreboards at Rebel Stadium and McKenzie Middle School Gymnasium during the August 6 meeting. more
CARROLL COUNTY (August 6) — On Tuesday, area students dusted off their school clothes, loaded up their backpacks and returned to their respective educational institutions to kick off a new year of learning. more
