TENNESSEE (March 24) — Average gasoline prices in Tennessee decreased 2.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.66/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. Prices in Tennessee are 8.2 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 51.2 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has decreased 0.9 cents in the last week and stands at $3.549 per gallon. more

NASHVILLE (March 11) — Two bills moving through the Tennessee General Assembly—Senate Bill 1310 (SB1310) and House Bill 1322 (HB1322)—would expand the authority of the Tennessee Public Charter School Commission (TPCSC), reducing the role of local school boards in charter school oversight. If enacted, the legislation would allow certain charter schools to bypass local approval, transfer regulatory responsibilities to state agencies, and modify charter renewal policies. more
