Back-to-School is Just Around the Corner

Posted

Though it feels like summer just began to students and educators enjoying their break, the start of the 2021-22 school year is just weeks away.

The McKenzie Special School District released its 2021-22 calendar. Students begin session with a half-day on Tuesday, August 3. In-service begins a week earlier on July 26 for school staff.

The first holiday is Labor Day on September 6. Students are out of school September 20 for a staff professional development day. Fall Break is October 11-15. The first parent-teacher conference day is October 21.

First Baptist Church of McKenzie sponsored the annual Back-to-School Jumpstart Sunday, July 11 at Mulberry Park. Free school supplies were provided to the first 250 parents and children to arrive. Kids enjoyed free jumpers, air archery, face-painting, popcorn, snow cones and hot dogs. Backpacks filled with canned food were given as door prizes, provided by United Neighbors.
