Baptist-Carroll County Offers HEART Score Screenings During American Heart Month

Posted

HUNTINGDON (February 4) — In observation of American Heart Month, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County is offering HEART score screenings every Friday during February from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the hospital, located at 631 R.B. Wilson Drive in Huntingdon.

Baptist’s HEART score screening is a painless, non-invasive CT scan of the heart that measures the amount of calcium in the coronary arteries. Although calcium is necessary for many body functions, it also deposits as plaque in arteries. Research has shown a direct correlation between the amount of calcium in the coronary arteries and the likelihood of a future heart attack.

“American Heart Month is a good reminder to get screened to help prevent heart issues,” said Susan Breeden, CEO and administrator of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County. “We are happy to provide this type of preventive care close to home.”

The scan takes approximately 10 minutes and does not require needles or fasting. Results are sent to each patient’s physician for review. Patients will need to pay for the test at a discounted rate of $99. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call 731-986-7381.
