McKENZIE — Funeral Services for Barbara Jean Wood are 3 p.m., Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Brummitt McKenzie Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Brother Kenny Carr is the officiant and pallbearers to serve are Tim Culpepper, Barry Summers, Joe David Rich, Ricky Price, Tim Waldrup and Greg Barker.
 
Mrs. Wood, 84, died Saturday at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She was born on June 14, 1937 in Etta, MS to Moody Quay and Verla Mae Blackard Faust.
 
She attended Macedonia High School in Memphis, and married Leon Wood on April 17, 1954. In Memphis, she was an office clerk for Sunshine Fashions which lead to the opening of Jeans Dress Shop in McKenzie. After arriving in McKenzie she went to work as the office manager of West TN Public Utility District, upon retiring she became the secretary at Long Heights Baptist Church and the dessert maker for Wood’s BBQ.
 
She is survived by three daughters: Sandra (Jimmy) Collins of McKenzie, Kathy (Tracy) Jackson of Upland, CA, and Nancy (Dennis) Pettit of Lebanon; one son: Billy Wood of McKenzie; four sisters: Jerri (Doug) Akins of McKenzie, Rachel Derosett of Manchester, Judy Smith of Gallatin and Brenda (Hugh) Sinquefield of Hernando, MS; seven grandchildren: Billie Jean (David) Perry, Brian (Stacey) McCaleb, Bubba Wood, Matt (Nicki) McCaleb, Taylor (Kaytlen) Jackson, Olivia Jackson and Zachary Pettit; eight great-grandchildren Hannah Harris, Abbi McCaleb, Natalie McCaleb, Summer Brown, Bryce Phillips, Celeste Phillips, Isabelle McCaleb, Audrey McCaleb and Arlo Jackson; and three great great grandchildren: Tate Warmath, Kip Warmath and Seger Wilson.
 
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Leon, sister Lene Watson and brother LaDurl Faust.
