Posted

McKENZIE (October 10) — Bethel Baptist Church celebrated a historic moment on Sunday, October 10 with a groundbreaking service for a new sanctuary. Bro. James Hazlewood said, it has been a six year process with lots of prayer, meetings and planning. Once the site passes inspection, then the pad will be poured and steel is set to arrive Monday, November 8. Bro. Hazlewood said, after that the building will begin to go up.

The pastor read from the Book of Ezra 3:10-11: “When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, the priests stood in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise the LORD, according to the ordinance of David king of Israel. And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the LORD: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever toward Israel.” Then all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.”

To commemorate the occasion, the building committee and Brian Winston of Carroll Bank & Trust ceremoniously broke ground for the new sanctuary. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church was established in 1977.
