Bethel Students Work at the Final Four Tournaments

McKENZIE (April 1) — Along with Blue Devils, Tarheels, Jayhawks and Wildcats from Pennsylvania, you could find Wildcats from West Tennessee at last weekend’s Final Four in New Orleans.

For the first time, Bethel University Sports Management Program students had the opportunity to volunteer at college basketball’s signature event. They are one of 15 schools in the nation to be invited to volunteer.

“We are really excited to work with the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation again. They hosted the College Football National Championship two years ago and did a fantastic job. We’ve been working together ever since that opportunity,” said Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Sports Management Josh Greer.

The students worked at Final Four-supporting events like fan engagement and hospitality.

These trips provide students the opportunity to gain real-world experience and make connections for post-college networking.

Sports Management Program students have also volunteered at College Football Playoff National Championship games, World Cup qualifiers, Tennessee Titans games and will work this April’s NFL Draft in Las Vegas.

“Opportunity after opportunity! I cannot be more thankful for all the opportunities the Sports Management Program has given me. I have enjoyed and learned from all the experiences I have worked on. I want to thank Bethel University and specifically Dr. Josh Greer for all the support and effort to make this possible,” said student Antonio Costas.

“I have learned to always take the opportunity when it comes to you and to never take it for granted. It is a blessing to be a part of the sports management program at Bethel University,” said student Jeffery Lee.

Greer has leveraged these occasions and outcomes to grow Bethel’s program into one of the largest in the state, growth that led to the recent addition of a Sports Administration concentration to its MBA portfolio.
