PROSPERITY, South Carolina — The Bethel University Wildcats completed the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series 2020-21 tournament season with an impressive top ten School of the Year honor this past week.

The Bethel squad finished eighth in the nation becoming the only school in the history of this ranking points system to have finished in the top ten in all eight years of the history of The Association of Collegiate Anglers School of the Year rankings.

The Bass Cats also competed in the Collegiate Bass Anglers National Championship and had three teams finish in the top twenty with Bethel Anglers walking away with an eighth-place finish in the national championship. Bethel Senior Anglers Kyle Palmer and Brad Ableman had a two-day total of 27.42 pounds for eighth place.

Bethel teammates Cody Gregory and Levi Mullins finished eighteenth while the Bethel team of Tristan McCormick and Seth Roberts finished in twentieth.

Over one hundred and seventy teams competed in the national championship and Bethel University qualified a record number of six teams that were allowed to compete in the prestigious event held on Lake Murray near Prosperity, South Carolina.

Two teams from Bethel will now travel to Texas to fish in the Bassmasters College Classic and will get to weigh in on the stage of the Bassmasters Classic. “This is a dream come true for any bass angler and a very high honor to be invited to the College Classic,” said Coach Garry Mason of Bethel. He added, “This is the second time in the history of this event that Bethel has had two teams invited to compete at the College Classic.”

The remainder Bethel Anglers will travel to Saginaw Bay, Michigan to compete in the Bassmasters Regional tournament next week.
