Carroll County Arts is hosting the Trivia Bowl on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 7 p.m. at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 16835 Highland Drive, McKenzie. Habitat House Groundbreaking February 5
Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County invites the public to a ground-breaking of the 22nd Habitat home in Carroll County on Sunday, February 5, 2 p.m. The home is located at 832 Magnolia Avenue, McKenzie, and is for Ms. Schaccara Weatherford and her four children. McKenzie Special School District Board of Education is holding a workshop on Wednesday, February 1, 5 p.m. to discuss the process of hiring a new director of schools.

Fundraiser For Matthew Jones February 11
The Cupid Shuffle 5K/One Mile Fun Run/Tot Trot to benefit Matthew Jones takes place Saturday, February 11, 2023, at McKenzie City Park, 570 Como Street, McKenzie. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the race begins at 8 a.m. Preregistration guarantees a shirt and a mug. Tee shirts and mugs available for sale on site and hot chocolate provided post-race. Matthew has been fighting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease since January 2021.

Carroll County Humane Society Strawberry Sale
The Carroll County Humane Society is taking orders for delicious Florida strawberries through February 14 for delivery in early March. A flat is $30 and half flat $18. Pre-orders can be made by calling 731-358-1019 or in person at 21822 TN-22, McKenzie.

Carroll County Humane Society Soup, Supper, Bingo February 4
The Carroll County Humane Society is hosting an all-you-can-eat soup supper with a drink and dessert for only $10, Saturday, February 4, 4-7 p.m. Additional concessions will be available throughout bingo. The event takes place at the Carroll Bank & Trust, 19510 East Main Street, Huntingdon. Enter a crock pot of soup for the competition. Guests will vote for their favorite soup with a prize going to the winner. Donations of desserts, crackers and breads are appreciated.

Carroll County Humane Society Bow Wow at the Barn March 4
Bow Wow at the Barn is Saturday, March 4, at The Venue at Waddell Place, 894 Joy Sparks Road, McKenzie. 6-10 p.m. The band 24-Seven is performing and door prizes, a silent auction, cash bar and snacks are provided. Poot’s BBQ food truck will be on site with plenty of great food for purchase. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased at Carroll County Humane Society, 21822 TN-22, McKenzie.

Gleason Rotary Pancake Breakfast February 4

The Rotary Club of Gleason is hosting an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast on Saturday, February 4, 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Simply Southern Cafe, 553 East Union Street, Gleason. The Gleason Summer League sports sign-ups will be held at the same time and place.

Huntingdon High School 5k Fundraiser March 5
The Huntingdon High School Track, Field and Cross Country teams are hosting a 5K run on Sunday, March 5. The race begins at 2 p.m. at the Huntingdon Middle School. Entry fee is $25 and a long sleeve tee shirt is guaranteed if registered by February 17.

Shepherd’s Table Community Kitchen
On the third Tuesday of each month, The Shepherd’s Table community kitchen serves meals at First Presbyterian Church located at 19835 E. Main Street, Huntingdon. Meals are served restaurant style with drive-through available after 6 p.m. It is open to the public and there is no cost. Donations are accepted. All are invited.
It is our mission to create a community atmosphere where individuals can come in and have a meal and a comfortable setting. We encourage friendly conversation, prayers and laughter. Mount Zion United Methodist Food Pantry
The United Methodist Church Caring Heart Food Pantry at Mt Zion Church, 120 Mt. Zion Road, Huntingdon has a food distribution the second Saturday of each month, 9 to 11 a.m.

McKenzie City Council Meets Monthly
The McKenzie City Council meets at 6 p.m. the second Thursday of each month.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly

Carroll County Commission meets the second Monday of each month, 7 p.m., in the Conference Room of the Carroll County Office Complex, High Street, Huntingdon. There are no meetings in December, February, and July.
