McKenzie Planning Commission Called Meeting
The McKenzie Regional Planning Commission meets in a called meeting on Wednesday, August 18 at 3 p.m. This will be in place of the regularly scheduled meeting August 25. The items on the agenda are: (1)  Discussion on Ice Vending Machine Placement and (2) Discussion on Accessory Structures
 
TOPS Meets on Mondays
The McKenzie Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) Chapter meets Mondays at McKenzie Church of Christ gymnasium. Weigh-in is 3 p.m. and the meeting is 3:30 p.m.
Anyone struggling with their weight can join. Visitors are welcome. The first meeting is free and membership is $32 per year plus nominal chapter fees.

County Democrats to Reorganize
Carroll County Democrats meet August 17, 6 p.m. in the Carroll County Office Complex. The doors open at 6 and the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Officers will be elected during the meeting. Face masks are required. For more information, phone 731-535-2071.
 
Senior Fun Day
Carroll County Office on Aging and Baptist Home Health & Hospice are hosting Senior Fun Day Friday, August 20, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the civic center. There is no cost. Lunch is provided. For more information, call 731-986-1985.
 
Car, Truck Show
Huntingdon American Legion Post 47 is hosting  the Third Annual Car and Truck Show at the Carroll County Civic Center on Saturday, August 28, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Entry is $20 for the first car and $15 for each additional entry. There is also a cornhole tournament and a 50/50 drawing along with cash drawings at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon.
Categories include best of show, mayor’s choice, sheriff’s choice, fire department’s choice. First to third place trophies for various categories. For more information, contact Bobby Russom at 731-439-6773 or Dennis Simpson at 731-358-3031.
 
Cornhole Contest
Huntingdon American Legion is hosting a Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, August 28, 10 a.m. inside the Carroll County Civic Center. It is a two-person team, double elimination contest. $25 per person. Register up to start time. First place pays $100 and second, $50. There is also a 50/50 chance for $` a ticket or six tickets for $5. Outside is a car, truck show. Contact Dennis Simpson 731-358-3031 or any Post 47 member.
 
County Democratic Committee, Women Meet Monthly
Carroll County Democratic Women Committee meets each third Tuesday at 6 p.m. Meetings are held at the Carroll County Office Complex on High Street in Huntingdon. Everyone is welcome to attend. 
 
Bethel Hosts Summer Science Camp
Bethel University is hosting a Summer Science Camp on August 14, 5 to 7 p.m. The event is presented by the student members of the American Chemical Society and is located on the Bethel campus quad outside Morris Science Complex.
It is for grades 1 to 6 with demonstrations and hands-on experiments. Registration is $15 per day. Contact Andrew Evans for more information or to register at evansa@bethelu.edu.
 
Nights on Broadway
McKenzie Main Street presents Nights on Broadway, a summer concert series, from 7-9 p.m. on select Thursdays from June through September in downtown McKenzie.
The lineup includes: August 19 — James Greer Band; September 2 — Flashback; and September 16 — Dialogue.

McKenzie City Council Meets Monthly
The McKenzie City Council meets at 6 p.m. the second Thursday of each month. 
 
Joy Club Meets Twice Monthly
The Joy Club meets at McKenzie First United Methodist Church on the first and third Thursdays of each month from noon-2 p.m. Bring a sack lunch and enjoy fellowship, games, guest speakers and movies. All are welcome.
 
Johnson Temple C.M.E. Prayer Vigil
There is a Community Prayer Vigil every Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Johnson Temple C.M.E, 915 Walnut Avenue, McKenzie. 
We come together to pray for one another, our community and country, then study the Word of God. Johnson Temple C.M.E. Church convenes each Sunday with Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. and morning worship at 11 a.m.
 
McKenzie Historic Zoning  Meets Monthly
The McKenzie Historic Zoning Committee meets the second Wednesday of each month, 4 p.m. in the city hall council chambers.
