Scholarship Shoot in Memory of Lee Russell
Carroll County Sports Shooting Park is hosting a sporting clays shoot on October 1. The first flight is 9 a.m. and second flight is 1 p.m. 
The shoot is to raise money and to establish a scholarship in memory of Sgt. Lee Russell, who died in a helicopter crash while serving the citizens of Tennessee as an airborne THP officer. He was known as Air Bear 71. The address of the shooting park is 680 McAdoo Cemetery Road, Huntingdon. The phone number is 731-234-6759.
 
McKenzie All-City Party September 15
The City of McKenzie is hosting an All-City Party on Thursday, September 15, 2022, 6-7 p.m. with the final 2022 Nights on Broadway immediately following at 7 p.m.
The City of McKenzie is honoring three long-time business people who are retiring: James Padgett (DDS), Linda Coleman (Heartworks), and Marvin Newman (McKenzie Auto Parts).
Additionally, this celebration is in recognition of the award McKenzie recently won for Small City Progress. 
McKenzie businesses are invited to set up in the downtown square, Veterans Park, with snacks, promotional items, or other materials they choose to give away. 
The public is invited to attend. The event is free for businesses and guests. 
Signs will be set up in front of the tables with the business’s logo on them. 
Please let city hall know by Wednesday, September 7 if your business plans to set up a table. Call 731-352-2292. 
 
McKenzie Farmers Market
McKenzie Farmers Market is open Saturdays at 8 a.m., 2431 Cedar Street, in downtown McKenzie. The former Studebaker dealership was converted to an indoor/outdoor farmers market and allows area citizens to sell their homemade and homegrown foods and other products. 
It is open every Saturday morning through October. Also visit on Tuesday afternoons, 2-6 p.m. Watch for special children’s activities sponsored by the Carroll County 4-H and Agriculture Extension Service. 
Admission is free. The facility is sponsored by the City of McKenzie. For vendor information, phone City Hall at 731-352-2292.
 
Carroll County Commission Meets Monthly
Carroll County Commission meets the second Monday of each month, 7 p.m., in the Conference Room of the Carroll County Office Complex, High Street, Huntingdon. There are no meetings in December, February, and July.
 
County Budget Committee to Meet
The County Budget Committee meets the fourth Thursday. The meeting is 10 a.m. in the conference room of the County Complex.
 
Shepherd’s Table Community Kitchen
On the third and fourth Tuesdays, The Shepherd’s Table community kitchen serves meals at First Presbyterian Church located at 19835 E. Main Street, Huntingdon, Tenn. Meals are served restaurant style with drive through available from after 6 p.m. It is open to the public and there is no cost. Donations are accepted. All are invited.
Food scarcity is real in this area and the Shepherd’s Table’s success is dependent on the support of volunteers and donations. The meals are prepared by volunteer staff hosted by different congregations in our town and donated by local businesses. The community kitchen was created by a group of volunteers, who saw the need in the Carroll County community. They need volunteers. Adult Education Classes
Huntingdon Location - Adult Education Building, 14155 Paris Street. Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Classes are offered for one-on-one instruction on Mondays, 1 to 4 p.m. and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to noon. For more information, phone 731-364-5481.
 
Huntingdon Special School District Parent-Teacher Conferences
The Huntingdon Primary, Middle and High School Faculty will host parent-teacher consultations on Monday, September 19, 2022, from 2-8 p.m. at each school. Parents are urged to attend and discuss ways in which we can work together to support the children. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
 
McKenzie City  Council Meets Monthly
The McKenzie City Council meets at 6 p.m. the second Thursday of each month. 
 
Prayer on the Square
The Prayer on the Square is held the second Saturday each month, 9 a.m. at The Network on the Court Square in Huntingdon. All denominations are welcome.
 
McKenzie VFW Golf Tournament
