Storytellers at Huntingdon Heritage Festival
Come hear the storytellers, sponsored by Carroll Arts, at the Huntingdon Heritage Festival, Saturday, September 28. Storytelling is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside the Huntingdon Police Station, 12740 Lexington Street. Stay for a short time of for the whole time!
Verizon Fundraiser for Kaitlyn Reed Family
Verizon in McKenzie is raising funds for the family of Kaitlyn Reed, who died at age 19 on September 1 of a fentanyl overdose. 100 percent of the funds raised go to Kaitlyn’s funeral expenses. Support her family by purchasing any RC Cares products or making a cash donation.
McKenzie Middle School Title I/Parent Involvement Meeting
McKenzie Middle School’s annual Title I/Parent Involvement Meeting is Wednesday, October 2 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the MMS Library. All parents and guardians of MMS students are invited to attend. Fifth Sunday Singing
Henry Baptist Church, College Street, Henry, is hosting a Fifth Sunday Singing on September 29, 5 p.m. Bendell Ellis and Trio to sing. A love offering will be collected. Finger foods are available following the singing.
Lakeside Fall Prevention Class
In recognition of September Rehabilitation Week and Fall Prevention Day Lakeside Senior Living will partner with Baptist Home Health on September 25 at 11 a.m. to host a Fall Prevention Class. Baptist Home Health Therapist will be performing Fall Risk Assessments along with demonstrations of what to do if you fall at home and some preventive measures to keep you upright and balanced. Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Available
The Northwest TN Economic Development Council begins accepting applications for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program October 1. This program assists low-income households through direct energy payments to their energy provider. Proof of gross household income is required to determine eligibility. Applicants must also submit a government ID, social security number verification for all household members and a current utility company print-out showing the last 12 months of usage at their current location. Individuals interested in applying for the LIHEAP Program should make an appointment at the Northwest TN Economic Development Council office in their county of residence. Funding for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program is provided through the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA).
5th Sunday Singing at Greenfield First Baptist
Greenfield First Baptist Church, 3127 N. Meridian Street, hosts a 5th Sunday Gaither Style Old Fashioned Singing Sunday, September 29 at 6 p.m. All singers in the area are invited to come sing with us. Rehearsal is 5 p.m. in the choir loft. Everyone is invited to come join us for this free event!
McKenzie High Alumni Golf Tournament is October 4
The McKenzie High School Alumni Association (MHSAA) Golf Tournament is Friday, October 4 at Carroll Lake Golf Course. The tournament is a four-person scramble with a limit of 18 teams. All golfers will need to arrive by 7:45 a.m., and the shotgun start is 8 a.m.
Entry fees are $200 per team of four, and event sponsorships for businesses are available for $100 each. Sponsorships include recognition on a banner to be displayed at both the golf tournament and the MHSAA decades reunion tailgate party later that evening.
Proceeds from the event support the goals of the MHSAA, which include providing scholarships and other assistance for students of McKenzie schools.
The deadline for team registration and sponsorships is Monday, September 16.

Everett’s Chapel Cemetery Association will meet Sunday, October 6, 2 p.m. at the church, 1185 Union Church Road. Anyone interested in the cemetery is invited to attend.

The McKenzie High School Class of 1970 reunion is Saturday, October 5 at 10 a.m. at the Barn at the City Park.
MHS Class of 1979 Reunion
During the weekend of The McKenzie High School Alumni Association Decades Reunion, the Class of 1979 meets Saturday, October 5 at the pavilion in the City Park from 1-3 p.m. Gina Hale Gore and Mary Ann Bush Garner are planning a memorable afternoon, with refreshments, photo backdrop with fun props and reconnecting with our classmates. McKenzie Memorial Library’s Hours
The McKenzie Memorial Library, Broadway Street, is open, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays throughout the summer for the Summer Reading Program. Additionally, the library has programs on most Saturdays beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Dog Vouchers
We are currently selling spay/neuter vouchers for dogs. The cost is $50 and surgeries will be done at the Huntingdon Animal Clinic. Must be 6 months or older at time of the appointment. No residency or income requirements. Vouchers must be purchased in person at the shelter during business hours Tuesday-Saturday 8 a.m.-12 p.m. We are running low on spay vouchers so hurry if you want one. We have several more neuter vouchers. Cash or card only.
Cat Vouchers
We always have spay/neuter vouchers for cats at a cost of $50 and to be used at Paris Vet Clinic. If you need to pay with cash, come by the shelter to purchase. Otherwise, we have a NEW NUMBER to purchase using a credit/debit card. Please leave a message and the volunteer will return your call very soon, 731-514-0878.
Carroll Democratic Party Meets
The Carroll County Democratic Party meets the third Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. at 12740 Lexington Street, Huntingdon.
Carroll Republican Party Meets
Carroll County Republican Party meets monthly each fourth Tuesday, 7 p.m. in the Public Safety Building in Huntingdon.
Carroll Commission Meets Monthly
Carroll County Commission meets the second Monday of each month, 7 p.m., in the Conference Room of the Carroll County Office Complex, High Street, Huntingdon. There are no meetings in February and July.
