Posted

CARROLL COUNTY — An investigation by special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, along with other Carroll County fire and law enforcement agencies, resulted in the arrest of a Camden man on a charge of first-degree murder.
Agents arrested Jason Mark Mills, 33, and charged him with one count of First Degree Murder. He was booked into the Carroll County Jail and is held without bond.

Under original jurisdiction, and at the request of the office of the 24th District Attorney General, TBI Special Agents responded to a fire call at a residence on South Spruce Street in Bruceton around 1 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2020 along with several other agencies:  24th District Attorney’s Office, Bruceton Police Department, Bruceton Fire Department, Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, Carroll County Fire Department, and Hollow Rock Fire Department. When first responders arrived, they found the body of Ryan Bennett Mills, the estranged wife of Jason. During the course of the investigation into the fire and the death, agents developed information that identified Jason Mills as the individual responsible for the death of the victim. The victim’s body was sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and confirmation of identification.
Ryan was a graduate of Hollow Rock-Bruceton High School and a hair stylist at The Salon on Main in Camden.
This is the second homicide in Carroll County this year. The last was on January 14 when Joseph Wert shot his neighbor Larry Gene Watkins, Jr., 46, of Moss Creek Road.
