Stolen Trailer — On July 6, Deputy Sunny Crews-Sherwood and Deputy Mark Boaz were dispatched to a home in Hollow Rock for theft of a 16-foot enclosed trailer. The owner of the trailer, Kevin Hilliard, stated he left the trailer at the house where they were working. Inside the trailer were many tools valued at $8,000. On July 8, Mr. Hilliard called dispatch advising that the Halfway Market has it on video going down Reynoldsburg Road across Hwy 641 to Rushing Road towards Big Sandy being pulled by a silver 4-door GMC truck. On July 9 the stolen property was recovered and returned to the owner.
Assault — Robert Wayne Walker, 40, of Dyersburg, was cited for Assault on July 6 following an incident at Clay Hill Motor Sports. The victim, Zachary Farmer, advised that they were racing on the track when in between laps there was shoving between vehicle’s and once they stopped Robert Walker exited his vehicle and approached Farmer’s car, slapped the hood, and then struck Farmer in the face. Farmer had a busted nose and a small laceration on the top of his nose. Walker advised that it did get heated between the two on the track and he did go to Farmer’s car and smack his helmet. Farmer wanted Walker charged for assault and did write a statement for the assault. Walker was cited and advised he had ten days to book into the jail and would be given a court date from there.
Domestic Assault — Bruce Edward Brown, 51, of Milan, was arrested for Domestic Assault on July 6. Dispatch was called to a home in Westport for domestic assault happening in the early morning hours. When arriving at the home, the accused, Bruce Brown, answered the door but didn’t want to let the police inside. After deputies got inside the home, they asked Brown multiple times what happened the night before and he would say nothing happened and appeared to be intoxicated. The victim, had obvious signs of domestic assault present. Because of the victim’s statements and markings, Brown was arrested for domestic and aggravated assault.

Possession of Schedule II — Heather Dawn Ford, 48, of Bruceton, was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine on July 8. Deputy Thomas observed Ford drive over the fog line three times while going south on Hwy. 70. Deputy Thomas initiated a traffic stop on Ford. Ms. Ford gave vague answers to the deputy’s questions which led to a search of the vehicle. In the vehicle under the driver’s seat was a small bag of meth. After being told she was going to jail, Ms. Ford handed over a pipe and more meth from inside her pants. She had 2.5 grams of meth total.
DUI — Melissa Ann Moore, 57, of McKenzie, was charged with a DUI on July 10. Deputy Jeremy Smith received a motor vehicle accident call on Hilliard Road. Upon contact with the defendant, he immediately noticed she had slurred and slow speech along with a strong odor of alcohol coming from her person. She admitted to drinking two orange alcoholic beverages and a bottle was located inside the vehicle so she then took a field sobriety test and performed poorly.
DUI — Yaritza Jasiel Vargas, 32, of McKenzie, was charged with DUI on July 4. Dispatch received a call from an anonymous caller stating that they wanted to report a drunk driver. They stated that it was a female driver named Yaritza, and she would be driving a 2003 silver Toyota Tacoma. They advised she was on Leach Road and would be going to Highway 22 headed towards McKenzie. Officer Townes got behind the vehicle and advised that she did a rolling stop through the four-way intersection of Veterans Drive and Paris Street. Officer Townes ran a registration of the vehicle, and the tags came back expired. After talking to the defendant,he asked to get out of the vehicle. She did poorly on her field sobriety tests and was transported to Carroll County Jail.
Stolen Items — On July 7, Gary Lindsey reported to the Sheriff’s Office that he had three firearms stolen from his residence. There was no forced entry to the residence. Lindsey has suspicion of who may have stolen his guns.
