County Library Summer Reading Concludes with Back-to-School Bash

HUNTINGDON (July 30) — Carroll County Library’s Summer Reading program came to a close Thursday with a Back-to-School Bash featuring awards for top readers, fun activities and tons of giveaways.
Kids and adults were challenged to read as much as possible over the summer, and the library pledged to donate books to the Carl Perkins Center based on how much time was spent reading and how many books were read. Thanks to the great participation of the community, 455 books will be donated.
At the bash, summer readers were invited to make their own bubble wands and provided chalk to cover the front walk with colorful art.
The visitors were treated to Domino’s Pizza, juice and popsicles. They were given materials to make edible “Three Little Pigs” houses for dessert.
Kids were given a variety of prizes, and drawings were held for backpacks full of school supplies and tickets to Discovery Park of America.
Certificates were awarded to top readers in several categories, and each was told how many books will be donated to the Carl Perkins Center due to their efforts.
