County Students Participate in Veterinary Explorer Program

Posted

CARROLL COUNTY — High school students, who are interested in learning about veterinary medicine, have the opportunity to job shadow the county’s veterinarians.
The Carroll County Vet Explorer program began three years ago through a partnership between the Tri-County Animal Clinic and Boy Scouts of America. This was the first of its kind in the state of Tennessee. It was such a great success the first year, Huntingdon Animal Clinic became a second location to host students.
The Vet Explorers is a great opportunity for any young person grades 9 - 12 interested in veterinarian services to job shadow. Students are able to shadow the staff at each location from 3 to 5 Monday through Friday or 8 to 12 on Saturday at least two to three times a month. The group meets the first Monday of every month at 6 p.m. in the Huntingdon High School cafeteria to discuss their experiences as well as to complete the next month’s calendar. For more information, please contact Tracy Connell, School Counselor, Huntingdon High School, 731-986- 8223.
