What You Need to Know About COVID-19

March 3 — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is responding to an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by a novel (new) coronavirus first detected in China and which has now been detected in 74 countries, including the United States. The virus is named “SARS-CoV-2” and the disease it causes has been named “coronavirus disease 2019” (abbreviated “COVID-19”). As of Tuesday at NOON, there were 60 reported cases in the U.S., 6 deaths and 12 states reporting cases. So far, no cases have been reported in Tennessee.
