District Tournaments This Week, Weather Prompts Changes

The high school basketball regular season has ended, and district tournaments begin this week for area teams. The potential for winter weather on Tuesday, February 18 has already prompted some changes to game times, and further changes could be necessary later in the week depending on accumulation and road conditions.

Several games were played Monday, February 17 after The Banner’s press deadline but prior to publication.

District 12A
With just four teams, District 12A begins with semifinal games on Monday and Tuesday hosted by the higher seed.

The two-seed McKenzie Lady Rebels hosted three-seed Houston County Monday, while the four-seed Central Lady Tigers traveled to top-seed McEwen.

The losing teams will play in the consolation game Friday, February 21 at 6 p.m. at McKenzie High School, followed immediately by the championship game.

The Central Tigers, also the four-seed, traveled with their lady counterparts Monday as they also faced McEwen’s top-seeded boys, playing a day early to avoid the weather.

McKenzie’s three-seed boys travel to two-seed Houston County High School in Erin Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The boys consolation and championship games are Saturday, February 22 at McKenzie High School at 3 p.m.

District 13A
With six teams, District 13A tournaments begin with satellite games at higher seeds and byes for the top two seeds. West Carroll hosts the semifinal and final rounds.

The six-seed West Carroll Lady War Eagles traveled to three-seed Clarksburg Monday, while five-seed Halls traveled to four-seed Bradford.

Top-seed Middleton awaits the winner of Bradford/Halls at 6 p.m. Thursday, February 20, followed by two-seed Humboldt facing Clarksburg or West Carroll.

The consolation and championship games begin Saturday at 6 p.m.

The six-seed West Carroll War Eagles travel to three-seed Halls Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. while five-seed Clarksburg goes to four-seed Bradford.

Top-seed Humboldt awaits the winner of Bradford/Clarksburg Friday at 6 p.m. followed by two-seed Middleton facing Halls or West Carroll.

The consolation and championship games begin Monday, February 24 at 6 p.m.

District 14A
The six teams in District 14A begin tournament play with satellite games at higher seeds and byes for the top two seeds. The semifinal and final rounds will be played at Bethel University’s Crisp Arena.

The four-seed Gleason Lady Bulldogs hosted five-seed Lake County Monday, while three-seed Union City hosted six-seed South Fulton.

Top-seed Dresden awaits the winner of Gleason/Lake County at 6 p.m. Friday, followed by two-seed Greenfield facing Union City or South Fulton.

The consolation and championship games begin Monday at 6 p.m.

The three-seed Lake County Falcons host six-seed Greenfield Tuesday at 5 p.m., while the four-seed Dresden Lions host five-seed South Fulton at 6:30 p.m.

Top-seed Union City awaits the winner of Dresden/South Fulton Saturday at 7 p.m., followed by two-seed Gleason facing Lake County or Greenfield.

The consolation and championship games begin Tuesday, February 25 at 6 p.m.

District 12AA
The four-team District 12AA tournaments are hosted by Stewart County, beginning with semifinal games on Monday and Tuesday.

The top-seed Huntingdon Fillies face four-seed Waverly Monday at 6 p.m., followed by three-seed Camden and two-seed Stewart County.

The consolation and championship games begin Friday at 6 p.m.

The top-seed Huntingdon Mustangs face four-seed Stewart County Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., followed immediately by three-seed Camden and two-seed Waverly.
