Posted

The McKenzie Farmers Market celebrated its Corn Festival on Saturday with a record-breaking attendance of 386 customers and 19 vendors. Customers bought cornbread, corn light bread, Mexican cornbread, popcorn, and freshly grilled corn. They played cornhole and sampled Corn Caviar to receive free recipes from the Carroll County Agriculture Extension Service.

Produce vendors are supplying customers with a large variety of the very best and freshest corn, tomatoes, okra, cucumbers squash, onions and more. Vendors also had delicious pies, cakes, breads, cookies, jams and jellies.

The market has fresh, just laid eggs from free-range chickens. We also have antibiotic and chemical additive-free beef.

If you are looking for plants, we have you covered with beautiful hanging plants and flowering shrubs and plants for your garden. There are also beautiful and exotic small planters filled with easy-to-grow succulents.

Crafters feature beautiful handmade jewelry, macramé items, exquisite wood-turned containers and bowls, baskets, soaps and more.

Saturday at 10 a.m. is Youth Activity Day, and all children in 4th grade and under are invited to participate in making creative cards decorated with seeds and other natural products.
The McKenzie Farmers Market is open Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon and Tuesdays, 3 to 6 p.m.
