Fatal Accident Claims Life of Paramedic

McKENZIE (May 22) — Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home for William (Bull) Bullington, who lost his life in a car accident on Saturday, May 20 at 12:39 p.m. in McKenzie.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has released the report of the accident, which occurred at 12:39 p.m. at the intersection of Old McKenzie Rd. and Hwy. 22. McKenzie Fire and Rescue had earlier reported it as a two-vehicle accident with entrapment.

According to the report, the accident claimed the life of William Bullington, age 54, of McKenzie, Tennessee. The driver of the vehicle in which he was riding was listed as Bonnie Bullington, age 46, of McKenzie, Tennessee, driving a 2017 Chevy Sonic. She was injured in the accident, but the extent of injuries is not included in the report. She was airlifted and was still in the hospital on Monday.

The driver of the other vehicle is listed as Bryan Cross, age 26, no city listed, driving a 2013 Ford F150. He also was injured.

McKenzie Police Department, McKenzie Fire/Rescue Department, Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Carroll County EMS responded to the intersection of State Route 22 and Dr. Smith Lane (State Route 124) to a two-vehicle automobile accident with injuries and entrapment.

According to the dispatch log at McKenzie Police Department, the MPD and fire/rescue responded to the scene, assessed the injuries, and called for ground and air ambulance.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be available mid-week at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home.
