McKENZIE (April 15) — McKenzie High School Lady Rebels hosted Huntingdon Thursday for a district softball contest. The Huntingdon Fillies built up a lead over seven innings and held off a last-minute Lady Rebel rally to claim a 4-3 win.
Huntingdon struck quickly with a run in the top of the first, then plated a run in each of the fourth, fifth and seventh innings. Trailing 4-0, McKenzie got on the board and nearly came back with three runs in the home half of the seventh.
Huntingdon’s Josie Sanders went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Kayla Pulling was 1-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. Madison Mann went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Adalyn Allen and Lia Fuller were each 1-for-3 with a stolen base. Rylee Holladay went 1-for-3. Kenadie Gibson was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Shelby Childress went 1-for-4. Hannah King was 0-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base.
