Posted

GLEASON — The Lady Bulldogs played host to Memphis Westwood Saturday night, March 5, with a state tournament berth on the line. Gleason came out hot and stayed that way from tip to finish.

The first period saw the Lady Bulldogs shoot their way into double digits leading 17-6 by the end of the period. They extended their lead with two back to back three pointers to start the second period to lead 23-6 with six minutes to go. Westwood started getting points on the board but Gleason still cruised to a 33-15 halftime score.

Their biggest period was the third period with the Lady Bulldogs outscoring Westwood 24-6 to lead 57-21 heading into the final period. At that point, the mercy rule was in effect for the fourth period. Gleason led by 40 a little over halfway through the period and finished off the win 67-31.

Carrington Lifsey and Alayna Anderson led the way with 25 and 18 points respectively. Ava Sawyers and Tinsley Parkins added five points each while Autumn Mingle, Daisy Blevins, and Kaylee Tucker had four points each. Sophie Wilson chipped in two points for the Lady Bulldogs.

Westwood only had two players score the entire game with one scoring 16 and the other scoring 15.

Gleason will face Clay County next Thursday, March 10 at 1:15 p.m. in Murfreesboro.
