Gleason Splits Wins with Lake County

GLEASON (January 4) — Gleason High School hosted Lake County Monday for a pair of district basketball contests. The host Lady Bulldogs pulled away early and coasted to a 68-42 victory. In the nightcap, the visiting Falcons took an early lead en route to a 76-52 win.

The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 22-12 lead after the opening frame, led by Alayna Anderson with eight points, including a three-pointer. Daisy Blevins scored four points. Hallee Young and Tinsley Parkins each hit a three, and Chasney Brawner and Sophie Wilson each had a pair. Charlea Wilson led Lake County with five points. JaKyla Hill scored four with a three, Harlee Windsor had a pair, and Riley Wilbanks hit a free throw.
Gleason added to the lead with a 13-9 edge in the second quarter, led by Brawner with seven points. Parkins scored four, and Jaeda Perry had a pair. Hill led the Lady Falcons with five points, and Wilson and Jazmin Lopez each had a pair. At the half, Gleason led 35-21.
The Lady Bulldogs blanked Lake County 18-0 in the third, led by Ava Sawyers with seven points, including a three-pointer. Anderson scored five with a three, and Brawner, Young and Parkins each added a pair. Entering the final frame, Gleason led 53-21.
The Lady Falcons rallied 21-15 in the fourth for a closer final, led by Hill with seven points. Aaliyah Swift scored five with a three. Wilbanks scored four, Wilson and Winsdor each added a pair, and Lopez hit a freebie. Perry led the Lady Bulldogs with seven points. Autumn Mingle scored four, and Parkins added a pair. Blevins and Elaine Covington each hit a free throw.
Lady Falcon JaKyla Hill led all scorers with 16 points, including a three-pointer.

Alayna Anderson led Gleason with 13 points, including a pair of threes. Tinsley Parkins and Chasney Brawner each scored eleven, Parkins with a three-pointer.
Falcons 76, Bulldogs 52
Lake County had a 20-8 lead after the first frame, led by Charles Hockett and Bobby Mays with four points each. Braden Johnson and Mason Weaks each hit a three-pointer, and Jeremiah White, Jamarius Williams and Jeremiah Williams each had a pair. Olen Reed led Gleason with three points. Elijah Young and Isaac Denton each had a pair, and Garrett Pinkston hit a free throw.
The Falcons had a 20-14 advantage in the second quarter, led by White with nine points on a trio of threes. Hockett scored eight, and Weaks hit another three-pointer. Brady Witherspoon led the Bulldogs with five points. Young scored four, Reed had three points, and Pinkston added a pair. At the half, the Falcons led 40-22.
Lake County added to the lead with a 17-13 tilt in the third, led by White with six points on a pair of threes. Ja. Williams scored four, Je. Williams hit a three, and Hockett and Parker Gordon each added a pair. Young led Gleason with eight points. Reed scored five. Heading into the final frame, Lake County led 57-35.
The Falcons sealed the win with a 19-17 edge in the fourth. White, Je. Williams and Jeremy Ceasar each hit a three-pointer, and Ja. Williams, Johnson, Rodshun Cheirs, Jahmyean Geanes and Malachi Clay each had a pair. Reed led the Bulldogs with seven points, including a three. Kadin Hamilton hit a three, and Young also scored three points. Pinkston added a pair.
Bulldog Olen Reed was tied for the top scorer with 20 points, including a three. Elijah Young scored 17 points.
Jeremiah White led Lake County with 20 points, including six three-pointers. Charles Hockett scored 14.
