Posted

HUNTINGDON — After COVID-19 put the longstanding Carroll County tradition on hold last year, the Town of Huntingdon is ready to celebrate its 28th Heritage Festival on Saturday, Sept. 25, with free, family-friendly activities planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Huntingdon’s historic Court Square.

Festival goers can expect to enjoy inflatables, ISTEA train rides, face painting; vendor booths for jewelry, clothing, crafts, food, snow cones, and ice cream; and music and entertainment on two stages.

The festival will open at 10 a.m. on the Carroll Bank & Trust Main Stage with the announcement of two prestigious awards. The Parnell Taylor family will receive the Pioneer Family Award, and Brooke Hodges will be honored as the Citizen of the Year.

The Carroll Bank & Trust Bandstand Stage will also host:

11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. — Blazin’ Blair & Skylar Sage, a simple yet powerful duo with several years of experience between them

12:30-1:15 p.m. — Anna & Jon Eaton, an Americana/rock/country duo from McKenzie that put their take on everything from the Beatles to current radio hits

1:30-3 p.m. — Levon, a band consisting of three best friends: Michael David Hall on lead vocals and guitar, Jake Singleton on harmonies, bass, and percussion, and Ryan Holladay (a Camden native) on guitar, mandolin, and harmonies.

The children’s stage, sponsored by the Huntingdon Animal Clinic, will feature family entertainment:

11-11:45 a.m. — Paris Landing State Park presents Birds of Prey

12-12:30 p.m. — Story Time with the Carroll County Library

12:45-1:15 p.m. — Live music with Birdsong School of Music

1:30-2 p.m. — Science experiments with Huntingdon High School Science Club

2:15-2:45 p.m. — Super Spines with Dr. Shelley

Join The Dixie at 12 p.m. for the artist reception featuring students of The Fifth Annual Student Art Gallery, located in the Ballroom Gallery. For more information about the Heritage Festival, contact Huntingdon City Hall at 731-986-2900.
