A computer showed her license to be suspended with one prior offense. Johnson refused to consent to a search of her vehicle, but a K-9 dog indicated the presence of illegal substances. During a search of the vehicle, Hedge found a meth pipe with meth residue in it and a marijuana grinder with marijuana residue in it.

Bradford gave consent for his vehicle to be searched, and when Hedge, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was patted down, .4 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for fentanyl and .8 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine were found in his possession. According to the report by Officer Joseph Hedge, Huntingdon officers, with assistance from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the McKenzie Police Department, executed a search warrant at a residence on Cotton Lane after receiving information from a confidential informant that illegal drugs were being sold from that residence. Amy Hampton, Kayla Hampton, and Groves were at the residence. While searching the home, officers found a plastic baggy containing approximately 2.3 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, two syringes, and burnt aluminum foil. The victim said at one point when he looked away, Pritchard started punching him in the face and pulled him out of his vehicle and continued punching him.
