Posted

Unruly at the ER — Steven Joseph Smith, 41, was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest during a January 12 incident at Baptist Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Room.
According to the report by Officer Labe Ezell, he and Lt. Angie Barker responded to the ER in order to assist with a combative patient. After assisting ER staff with that patient, officers were asked to help with another combative patient (Smith), who was refusing to sign paperwork, yelling obscenities, and claiming that he was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head. Smith also said he had smoked methamphetamine that morning. At one point, Smith tried to leave the room and became combative with officers when they tried to detain him, kicking Ezell in the leg several times. Ezell finally used a taser device to subdue Smith, who was then taken into custody and transported to the Carroll County Jail.
License, Noise Violations —

Jennifer Lynn Quinn, 22, was charged with driving on a suspended license and cited for an excessive noise violation during a January 17 traffic stop on Lexington Street in Huntingdon.
Officer Carlton Cupples reported that he pulled over a vehicle driven by Quinn because she was playing excessively loud music in her car. A computer check showed that Quinn’s license was suspended for failing to appear in Lexington City Court.
DUI — Dennis R. Culps, 73, was arrested for DUI following a January 15 traffic accident in Huntingdon.
According to the report by Officer Christopher Cole, he responded to a one-vehicle traffic accident on Knox Street and found that Culps had crashed his blue 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck into a telephone pole. Further investigation revealed that Culps’ vehicle had crossed through two yards and knocked over a mailbox before hitting the pole. An ambulance was called to the scene, but Culps refused treatment. Cole noted that Culps had bloodshot eyes, his speech was slurred, and he was very unsteady on his feet. Culps told the officer that he had been drinking alcohol, he performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and a breath test administered at the Carroll County Jail showed his blood-alcohol level to be over the legal limit.
