Theft of Vehicle — On January 17, Police officer Jonathan McDowell spoke to Matthew Stuckey about his 2021 Chevy Tahoe grey in color being stolen from his driveway somewhere between 1:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. The owners had the keys inside so the vehicle must have been towed somehow. At the time this report was made the vehicle was considered stolen until proven otherwise.
Driving under the Influence — On January 16, Police officer Dexter Richardson along with Sgt. Parham was dispatched to the corner of Browning Ave. and Mebanewood Dr. to conduct a welfare check on a red pickup truck. Officers approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and found a female asleep. They knocked on the window and woke the female who was identified as Stephanie Smith, 33, of Huntingdon, and asked her what was going on and if she was okay. She stated that her tooth was hurting but officers observed two empty bottles of Jack Daniels in the cup holder. Stephanie admitted to being drunk and refused to perform a sobriety test because she would fail. She was placed under arrest for DUI and transported to Carroll County Jail.
Aggravated Burglary — On January 14, Patrolman Jonathan McDowell along with Officer Daniel Inman responded to Sonic Drive-In of Huntingdon in reference to money missing from the office. Deposit $1354.22, $1282.55, and $1480.84 was missing from the bank bag. Manager Krista Campbell estimated $100 was missing and $600 from the lock box. The business was locked, and the office door was locked. Ms. Campbell stated the door had to have a thumbprint to access and nothing appeared out of place. This was still under investigation at the time of the report.
Speeding, Violation of Registration Expired Tags — On 01-12-2025, Sgt. Tony King witnessed a vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed and radar confirmed the vehicle was moving 72 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. Upon conducting the traffic stop it was discovered that the driver Gwendela Hampton, 51, had a suspended license and she also had a failure to appear in Henry County. She was cited and given a 10-day notice to book in Carroll County jail.
Driving on Revoked License — On January 5, Officer Kristen Lee observed a vehicle traveling down Paris Street with one headlight. After getting behind the vehicle there was one working taillight and no tag lights. The driver, Edwina Parker, 43, was shown to have a revoked license. Parker received a verbal warning for head light, taillight, and tag light. She was cited into General Session Court for Driving on Suspended license 1st offense.
Harassment — On January 7, Officer Dexter Richardson was dispatched to Holmes Mill Road located inside the city limits of Huntingdon. Richardson arrived on scene and made contact with the victim. She had a voicemail from Michael Walker, 64, Huntingdon, cussing and stating he was going to stab her in the face with a knife. After hearing the voicemail, the victim stated he lived in the same apartment complex and was right next door at the time. Walker was arrested and transported to the Carroll County Jail for Harassment.
Vandalism — On January 9, Patrolman Jonathan McDowell along with Patrolman Daniel Inman received a call about a possible shoplifter at Walmart. When they arrived on scene Security officer Joe Lowe advised that Matthew Howard, 36, didn’t steal but destroyed merchandise and made it to where it was no longer able to be sold. The defendant placed two cups of popcorn chicken in a backpack that had not been purchased and placed it back in the clothing section and exited the store. The defendant re-entered the store because he had left his car keys inside of the backpack, he recently damaged. He was cited into Carroll County Jail to be booked and given a court date.
Driving on Revoked License — On January 3, Officer Kristen Lee conducted a traffic stop on the court square on a vehicle that failed to yield. Dispatched informed that the tag on the vehicle did not come back on file. The driver of the vehicle, Paul Buckland, 20, had an ID only and a revoked license for DUI. Buckland stated that he had took the tag from another vehicle and placed it on his and he had not registered the Ford Focus or have any financial responsibility. Buckland was cited for Driving or Moving Unregistered Vehicle, Misuse of Registration, and Violation of Financial Responsibility.
Domestic Assault — On 1-11-25, Officer Brad Allen was dispatched to Barnett Street on a man threatening his wife with a gun. Upon his arrival he spoke to a female victim at the residence. She said that she and her husband, Jacob Sledge, 29, of Huntingdon, had been arguing all morning and that he pulled out a shotgun and threatened to shoot a hole in the place. Jacob Sledge stated to officer Allen that he and his wife had been arguing because he was mad the house was a mess. He stated that he pulled a gun out and said he was going to shoot a hole in the ceiling. Officer Allen retrieved the shotgun from the house, a .22 caliber pistol, and 55 rounds of ammo and 12-gauge shotgun shells. Sledge was taken to the Carroll County Jail and charged with Domestic and Aggravated assault.
