DUI, Driving on Revoked Driver License — Kennon R. Johnson, 67, of Huntingdon, was arrested and charged with DUI first offense, Driving on a Revoked or Suspended License, and Violation of Implied Consent Law on 6/22/24. Officer Justen Roberts observed a black Tahoe turn left onto Paris Street from Clark Street. By turning left onto Paris Street, the vehicle was driving the wrong way down a one-way road, so Officer Roberts initiated a traffic stop. The defendant immediately exited his vehicle and attempted to approach the officers. Roberts informed Johnson to wait by his vehicle. A check with dispatch confirmed that Johnson didn’t have a driver’s license. When Officer Roberts approached the vehicle, he could smell the odor of alcohol coming from his person and located inside the vehicle was an unopened can of Michelob Ultra and cup containing tequila in the center console cup holder. Johnson failed the field sobriety test and refused to provide a blood sample. He was then taken to Carroll County Jail.
Domestic Assault, Child abuse and Neglect (non-violent) — Epiphany Taylor, 25, of Milan, was arrested on 06/27/24. Officer Arline was dispatched to a home on Paris St. in Huntingdon for a possible domestic assault. When he arrived on scene three females were standing in the driveway of the residence. The victim had a cut under her left eye that appeared to be swelling and bleeding. Officers asked her what happened to eye, and she said her daughter, Epiphany, hit her multiple times and attacked her. Epiphany Taylor said a tall black woman with long hair had assaulted her mother and left the scene. Taylor had cuts on her knuckles and blood on her fingers/fingernails consistent with striking someone with a fist. The defendant was visiting her mother and her 2-year-old son who her mother has custody of. At some point, Epiphany Taylor engaged in a verbal altercation with her mother while she was holding her son. The altercation became physical, and Epiphany began shoving her mother and then striking her in the face while continuing to hold her two-year-old child, placing the baby in imminent danger. Epiphany eventually sat the child down and continued to attack her mother.
Driving on Revoked Drivers License, Simple Possession/Casual Exchange — Alfonza J. Duffy, 33, of Huntingdon, was arrested on 6/22/24. Officer Arline observed a silver Chevy Trailblazer traveling down Veterans Drive North with a headlight out. Officer Arline initiated a traffic stop and approached the driver who was Alfonza Duffy. The driver stated that he doesn’t have a driver’s license due to it being suspended for failure to pay fines. After a call with dispatch, it was confirmed that they are suspended, and he has had 9 previous arrests for driving on suspended license. The defendant informed the officers that there was marijuana in the vehicle. After a search was conducted, a grinder with marijuana residue was found, 2 bags, one containing marijuana and the other containing marijuana residue. Duffy was then transported to Carroll County Jail.
Shoplifting — Eugene Dorey, 78, of Huntingdon, has been cited with shoplifting from Walmart in Huntingdon and Milan locations. Eugene failed to scan three items and attempted to leave the store without paying for them. The total restitution of these items is $19.10. This incident was captured by Walmart security footage.
Driving under the Influence — Brian Hicks, 21, of Bruceton, was arrested on 06/23/24. Officer Arline observed a gray Ford Bronco heading west down Buena Vista Road driving on the opposite side of the road. A traffic stop was initiated. The driver, Brian Hicks, had an alcohol odor coming from him and the vehicle. He also had slurred speech and watery eyes. Officer Arline asked Hicks to get out of the vehicle and take a sobriety test. Hicks failed the test and kept stating “just take me to jail.” He was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. While on the way to jail, Hicks said “Take off these handcuffs and I promise I’ll show you.” During the booking process, Brian still refused a blood sample and then signed a middle finger on the signature line.
