Huntingdon School Board Meets to Discuss Changes in 2021-2022 School Year

HUNTINGDON (May 20) — The Huntingdon School Board met to approve and acknowledge employment, assignments, budget, and policies for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year. All three school sites will experience changes in principals. Christy Carey, principal at Huntingdon Primary School, moves to system-wide supervisor of learning loss. Her replacement David Wilkins; Scott Carter, principal at Huntingdon Middle School, moves to technology supervisor. His replacement is Rachel Smothers Williams; and Jonathan Kee, principal at Huntingdon High School, is the new director of schools. His replacement is Porsche McClerking.
The Huntingdon Special School District Teacher Employment for the 2021-2022 school year is as follows.

Huntingdon Primary School acknowledged educational assistants Denise Blackletter, Wendy Coleman, Jennifer Giles, Heather Lewis, Kristin Roberts, Sheri Singleton, Richelle Stokes and Heather Whitworth, secretaries Tammy Allen and Tina Rich and Pre-K teachers Amy Atkins and Jayna Russell.
Huntingdon Middle School acknowledged educational assistants: Kim Byars, Mallori Laman, Crystal Locke and Charlene Milam and secretaries Lorene Davis and Judy Parish.

Huntingdon High School acknowledged educational assistants Deanna Bailey, Norma Hardy, Kathryn Kreuziger and Amanda Mayfield and secretaries Diane Cross and Dana Warman.
Gina Ledsinger, Melissa Thomas and Jessica Trevathan were acknowledged as the school nurses. Linda Bales was acknowledged for her work in technology, and Chris Fuller was acknowledged for his work in maintenance. The central office staff acknowledged were Becky Orr, Joy Ross, Norma Villalobos and Tanya Wilson.

The Huntingdon School Board approved the assignment of the following employees:
David Wilkins, Principal of Huntingdon Primary School; Rachel Williams, Principal of Huntingdon Middle School; Porsche McClerking, Principal of Huntingdon High School; Angie Bunn, Supervisor of Instruction and Special Education; Alan Eubanks, Supervisor of Federal Projects and Attendance; Robbie Carlton, Food Service Supervisor; Scott Carter, Technology Supervisor and Christy Carey, Learning Loss Supervisor. They acknowledged the retirement of Agnes Cooper, the resignation of Brandon Sims and the employment of Macon Bullock, Morgan Cagle, Spencer Ezell, Alex Gooch, Adam Parish and Sarah Simonton.
The School Board approved the resurfacing of the gym floor at Huntingdon High School at a price of $20,950 by a Lexington company that has maintained the floors for years.
Tenure was granted to two teachers, Denise Lankford and Ben Carter, both teachers at Huntingdon Middle School.
The board granted authority to Dr. Lee Carter, chairman, and the director of schools to evaluate any real estate near the schools that might become available for sale.
