Inglenook Book Club December News

Posted

The Inglenook Book Club held its annual Christmas party and December meeting at the country home of Beverly Mueller which was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Twenty members were present to enjoy a delicious noon meal catered by Simply Southern of Gleason.
After lunch, President Carolyn Moore called the meeting to order and thanked Beverly for opening her home to us.
The Recording Secretary read a brief synopsis of the November meeting minutes.
Members celebrating November birthdays are Geneva Johnson, Zia Locke, and Elaine Williams. “Happy Birthday” was sung.

President Moore stated she delivered 40 scissors as well as crayons for the school teachers last month. Next month our donation will be boxes of Kleenex. In addition, members are asked to bring items of personal hygiene to be given to students in one of the elementary school grades.
Instead of exchanging Christmas gifts as we’ve done in the past, members each brought money to be donated to a local charity. After discussion, it was decided to split our donation between the Carl Perkins Center and a group in one of the McKenzie banks which financially helps those in need in our community.
The book passing was conducted before our program which consisted of a group sing-along of Christmas songs led by Suzanne Howell and Shirley Martin, and ably assisted by Victoria Ard. Carolyn Moore led the group in playing Bingo and other games.
Before adjournment, members were reminded to bring their new books and 2022 dues to the January meeting, as well as the items for school children.
Members present: Victoria Ard, Peggy Chappell, Carolyn Goodwin, Jean Hollomon, Suzanne Howell, Geneva Johnson, Gayron Lyles, Shirley Martin, Jean McKinnie, Sandi McMahen, Carolyn Moore, Beverly Mueller, Mary Newman, Pedie Pedersen, Marilynn Putman, Shelia Rogers, Suzanne Russell, Genia Sherwood, Donna Ward, and Elaine Williams.
