HUNTINGDON  -  James Earl Humphreys, Jr., 99, of Huntingdon, Tennessee died Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton.

Funeral services were Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at First Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Furr, Bro. Sam Watkins, and Bro. Cliff Kelley officiating. Interment followed in Clark Cemetery.

 Humphreys was born June 11, 1923 in Cordova, Tennessee, to the late James Earl Humphreys, Sr., and Frankie (Burrows) Humphreys.  He worked as director of Association Missions for Carroll Benton Baptist Association, was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntingdon and served in the ministry for 40 years.  He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and later in Air Force reserve as a captain. Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, of 62 years, Doris Emma Humphreys and one sister, Bettie Minion.

He is survived by three daughters, Patti Morris of Nashville, Kathy Cunningham of Dresden, Beth Watkins (Sam) of Bokoshe, Oklahoma, and one son, David F. Humphreys (Maggie) of Pensacola, Florida.  He also leaves five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Chase Funeral Home, Huntingdon.
