McKENZIE  - John McCormack Long, 91, of Tully, New York, died January 4, 2022, comfortably in his home at Lakeside Senior Living Community in McKenzie, Tenn.  He was enveloped by the love of his close friends and fellow residents, his youngest nephew, Ed, and his amazing care team led by Rikki Barrick from Senior Solutions.

Jack is the son of Frank and Josephine Long.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and has been a beloved friend and attendee of Union Primitive Baptist Church in McKenzie, Tenn., for the past year. 

Jack worked with the Onondaga County Highway Department and Saulsbury Fire Equipment before retiring to New Smyrna Beach in 1996.  While in New Smyrna Beach, he volunteered and served for decades, enjoying the opportunity to help others and share his special gifts. Jack never met a stranger and was the center of attention in most every room he entered.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife of 53 years, Kathryne M. Long, and his younger brother Joseph F. Long.  He is survived by his nephews and nieces: John (Nancy) Griswold, Rita (Barry) Ellis, Rebecca (Chuck) Yonko, Kevin (Melanie) Long, and Ed (Jennifer) Long.

There will be a memorial service and burial at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Tully, New York, at a later date.
