TREZEVANT — Graveside funeral services for John Robert Dowland, 21, of Trezevant, Tennessee were Saturday, September 11, 2021, 1:30 p.m., at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery between Trezevant and Bradford on Hwy 105. Visitation was 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
He died Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was the son of Mr. Vernon Howard Dowland and Tiesia Foster Dowland.
John graduated from West Carroll High School in Atwood, Tenn. in 2018. He was very active in FFA and graduated in the top 10 of his class with honors. John attained an associate degree in Business at Jackson State in 2020. He was working at CECO in Milan, Tenn.
John had a passion for old tractors and automobiles and tinkering with engines. John loved all types of music and enjoyed collecting albums of all types of artists, especially classic country music. He could also cook a great steak and enjoyed being in the kitchen. John had a wonderful sense of humor and tried to treat everyone he knew with respect and dignity. He will be missed tremendously by his friends and family.
John gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized and was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Bradford.
He is survived by his parents, maternal grandfather, Kenneth Foster and paternal grandmother,
Frances Dowland. John is also survived by an aunt, Tammy (Chris) Irby and great uncle, Robert Ray (Marilyn) Crocker. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather and grandmother, Roy and Jeanette Dowland and maternal grandmother, Bonnie Crocker Foster.
The family has requested any memorial contributions be directed to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Youth Program, 405 Trezevant Highway, Bradford, TN 38316.
Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
