PARKERS CROSSROADS, Tenn. — The Parkers Crossroads Battlefield Association and the Lexington High School BETA Club are hosting a lantern walk on Saturday, October 4, at 7 p.m. The walk begins at Tour Stop 7 in South Battlefield Park. The public is invited to participate.
As part of their ongoing community service and educational efforts, the LHS BETA Club has researched historic events and written original scripts to guide visitors through key moments in American history. The lantern walk will highlight the sacrifices and struggles of the nation’s past, from the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 through the turmoil of the Civil War — offering perspective as the country approaches the 250th anniversary of its founding.
“This is a unique opportunity for students to connect with local history and share it with the community,” said Keith Doll, president of the Parkers Crossroads Battlefield Association. “Walking these historic grounds by lantern light makes the past come alive.”
The event is free and open to the public. Visitors are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and come prepared to walk the historic battlefield by lantern light.
