LCDR Brent Summers Promoted to Commander

Commander Brent L. Summers, U.S. Navy, son of Linda and the late Roger Summers, brother of Tommy Summers and Susan Muzzall, is a 1998 McKenzie High School graduate, a 2002 UT Martin graduate and earned his Master’s in Defense and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island in June 2017. He was promoted to the rank of Commander in Naples, Italy on September 3, 2020.
In December 2004, Brent earned his commission at Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida. He completed three sea deployments, two on the USS Donald Cook and one on the USS Rushmore. He reported to Marine Helicopter Squadron One, Quantico, Virginia, as the Assistant Supply Officer for the Presidential Helicopter Squadron. He then volunteered for a 10-month tour in Iraq, followed by duty as the Academic Director at the Navy Supply Corps School, Newport, RI.
Brent, his wife and daughters reside in Naples, Italy, where he works at U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa. In October they will relocate to the U.S. for his next assignment.
Brent is a qualified Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer, his awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (2), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3), various unit, service and campaign awards, and the Presidential Service Badge.
