Huntingdon Man Charged with Firearm Violation After Incident with Deputies

HUNTINGDON — Christopher Harold Kirksey, 46, of 410 Renfroe Road, Huntingdon, was charged with public intoxication and possession of a handgun while intoxicated during a March 21 incident at his residence.

According to the report by Carroll County Deputy Ryan Hamilton, he and another deputy went to Kirksey’s residence after Kirksey called about an unwanted person on his property.

Kirksey told deputies that there was a person living in a camper beside his workshop and he wanted that person removed due to the person not “respecting the peace” and leaving ruts in the yard. Hamilton advised Kirksey about the legal process for having someone evicted, and the deputy observed that Kirksey was intoxicated. Kirksey told deputies if they were not going to remove the person, then he was going to kill that person, pointing to a loaded Smith & Wesson 45-caliber revolver on a nearby workbench. Hamilton told Kirksey that his statements would be logged on his report, and Kirksey told the deputies they weren’t going to do anything.

As the deputies were returning to their patrol cars, they observed Kirksey walking toward the camper with the gun in his hand. The deputies drew their pistols and repeatedly commanded Kirksey to drop the gun and put his hands up. Kirksey started beating on the camper door, but then turned and threw the pistol on the ground, put up his hands, and was taken into custody. The weapon was found to have six rounds in the cylinder.
