HUNTINGDON (June 10) — The Huntingdon Town Council met Tuesday for a special called session to approve first readings on four ordinances to conclude the current fiscal year and begin the next, including two that raise water and sewer rates, one to establish the Fiscal Year 2026 budget and one that makes year-end adjustments to balance the FY25 budget.

HUNTINGDON (June 12, 2025) — Andrew Tosh, a 37-year-old Huntingdon resident and father of two, was struck and killed by a train on Thursday.

HUNTINGDON — The Carroll County Fair Association has released the schedule for this year’s pageants and announced that the Miss Fairest of the Fair pageant will accept contestants from the surrounding counties, including Henry, Weakley, Gibson Madison, Henderson, Decatur and Benton.

McKenzie’s downtown summer music series Nights on Broadway continues Thursday, June 19 with the band 24/7. Music begins at 7 p.m. Spectators sit on the town square facing the stage on Banner Row; lawn chairs are encouraged.

MARTIN (April 1) — The University of Tennessee at Martin recently held its annual Mass Media and Strategic Communication Awards Ceremony in the Russell Duncan Ballroom of the Boling University Center. Two students from Huntingdon were honored at the event.

McKENZIE (June 13) — McKenzie High School Baseball players, coaches, parents and other supporters gathered Friday evening at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church for a banquet to celebrate a fantastic season and a remarkable run by the team’s three seniors to reach four consecutive state tournaments.

McKENZIE (June 12) — After nearly two decades without any property tax increases, McKenzie is proposing a 32 percent tax hike to fund an estimated $5.5 million budget. A called meeting and public hearing are scheduled for Tuesday, June 24. At 5 p.m. is a public hearing for exceeding the certified tax rate. At 5:30 p.m. is a public hearing of the budget for the fiscal year of 2025-2026. At 6 p.m. is a special called meeting for the second reading of Ordinance 571, changing regulations governing food trucks.
