Curtis Halford, a dedicated public servant and former Tennessee State Representative for the 79th District, died on January 24, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on March 27, 1943, Halford is survived by his beloved wife, Charlotte; their two children, Lori and Bradley; and three grandchildren, Kate, Charlotte, and Noah.

HOLLOW ROCK-BRUCETON (January 23) — Central High School hosted West Carroll Thursday for a pair of basketball contests. The Lady Tigers pulled ahead early en route to a 43-26 win, while the Tigers shook off an early deficit to claim a 62-42 victory.

HUNTINGDON (January 21) — Huntingdon High School hosted Waverly Tuesday for a pair of district basketball contests. The Fillies built a solid lead over three quarters, then dominated the fourth for a 74-42 victory. The Tigers kept it close through three frames, but the Mustangs pulled away at the end for a 69-55 win.

GLEASON (January 24) — Gleason High School hosted Lake County Friday for a pair of district basketball contests. The Lady Bulldogs were in control throughout for a 43-29 win, while the Bulldogs battled through momentum shifts to come out on top, 66-58.

ERIN (January 24) —- McKenzie traveled to Houston County High School Friday for a pair of district basketball contests. The Lady Rebels led throughout and held off a late Lady Irish rally for a 58-54 win. The Rebels trailed at the half but dominated down the stretch for a 76-54 victory.

The Fillies amassed a sizable lead after three quarters, but had to hold off a late Lady Rebel rally for a 65-56 win. The Mustangs started strong and cruised to a 91-58 victory.

McKENZIE (January 20) — McKenzie High School hosted McEwen Monday for a pair of district basketball contests. The fifth-ranked Warriorettes rode an early lead to a 75-51 win. The Rebels made a late rally, pulling within two points more than once before falling to the Warriors, 72-64.
