    McKENZIE (September 20) — Last week, the Tennessee Sheriff’s Association warned against school threats that are occurring on a statewide basis. Last Friday, McKenzie Special School District took great precaution on suspicious rumors.

  • Man Airlifted Following Tractor-Trailer Accident

    McKENZIE (September 21) — A Milan man is recovering from his injuries after the tractor-trailer he was driving veered off the five-lane highway, across opposing traffic lanes and came to rest on the roadside embankment just south of McKenzie near Enon Baptist Church. The truck indicated it was operated by Hanks Farms.

    McKENZIE (September 19) — West Tennessee Public Utilities, the local natural gas distributor, hosted its fifth annual community informational session on Thursday, September 19. The annual event provides information on the work and progress of the local utility district and also to alert government leaders and first responders about how to safely work with natural gas.

    HUNTINGDON (September 17) — The September meeting of the Carroll County Commission had what was presumed to be a simple agenda but two points of order resembled more of a classroom scolding. Commissioners Cyril Ostiguy and Daniel Thomas were chastised during the meeting.

  • Rebels Dominate Scotts Hill, 63-0

    McKENZIE (September 20) — McKenzie High School hosted Class 3A Scotts Hill Friday. The Rebels didn’t afford the Lions even a semblance of momentum in the contest, scoring five times in the first quarter and stifling the Scotts Hill offense to -47 yards overall. McKenzie added four more touchdowns before the break and, after a mercifully short second half, claimed the 63-0 victory.

  • Huntingdon Improves to 3-1 with Win Over Crockett County

    ALAMO (September 20) — The Huntingdon Mustangs made the trek to Alamo, Tennessee on Friday night as they battled the 4A Crockett County Cavaliers. Despite hot and muggy conditions, the Mustangs came away with the week five win, 28-21.

    Over the weekend, a few posts went viral concerning a man that was booked into Henry County Jail on Sunday afternoon on a $50,000 bond. The man is charged with sexual exploitation of a minor after he took photos from various women’s and children’s social media accounts and reposted them to his account with lewd comments on some. The Henry County Sheriff’s office has the man in custody and is investigating.

    McKENZIE (September 17) — McKenzie High School hosted Huntingdon Tuesday for a District 12A soccer match. The Fillies scored three goals in each half to claim a 6-1 victory.

    McKENZIE (September 19) — The McKenzie Middle School Lady Rebels wrapped up the softball season Thursday as they hosted Bradford and celebrated Eighth Grade Night. The Lady Rebels won a back-and-forth battle, 5-4, over the Lady Red Devils.

  • West Carroll Junior High Earns Homecoming Win Over Central, 26-12

    ATWOOD (September 16) — West Carroll Junior High celebrated Homecoming Monday, delayed from the previous week due to weather. The War Eagles hosted Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Middle School and kept the Tigers at arm’s length for a 26-12 victory.

    McKENZIE (September 17) — McKenzie Middle School hosted Huntingdon Tuesday for the final home football game of the season. The game was rescheduled from the previous week due to weather. The Rebels scored two early touchdowns and held the Mustangs to one score for a 16-6 victory.
