McKenzie Approves Paving Project

McKENZIE (April 8) — During the regular meeting of the City of McKenzie Board of Mayor and Council, the short agenda contained one item, the approval of a paving bid by Martin Paving Company in Medina, Tennessee. The paving entity bid $106.50 per ton to pave Elm Street, Mulberry Street and Cherry Avenue. The bid was accepted and approved 5-0 by the Council; Councilperson Josefina Batton was unable to attend the meeting.
In department reports, the Police Department received 1296 calls for the month of March. The department hired three officers; one of the hires is currently attending the police academy while the other two officers will be attending in the following weeks.

The Street Department reported the brush truck has been repaired and running its routes. The department also began tree trimming and will begin mowing in the next few weeks.
Mike Beasley of the Parks and Recreation Department informed the Council that league and school ball season has commenced at the park. His department is working to maintain the fields, repairing signage and painting. Also, the skateboard park had new equipment installed.
The next meeting of the council might be held in person. The meeting is May 13 at 6 p.m.
