McKENZIE (July 3) — Area residents of McKenzie enjoyed the fourth of July one day early this year because the official holiday was on Sunday. The day started with a children’s parade on Banner Row, followed by events at the Farmers’ Market and ending the celebration at City Park with a fireworks show, where spectators filled the park and side roads to watch the aerial show. Four children participated in the Children’s Parade including Gage Winchester, Ezra Grisham, Cali Diller, and Ava Diller. Uncle Sam (Dan Grisham) led the parade and Steve Bomar provided the music with pre-recorded soundtracks. Mayor Jill Holland and Jennifer Waldrup gave each of the participants novelty items for their participation.
