Theft and Domestic Assault — According to a report filed by Officer Jeremiah Brooks, he was dispatched to a Hwy 79 location on Wednesday afternoon, October 26, in reference to a vehicle theft and domestic assault. When Brooks arrived, the victim was not able to give a statement due to the stressfulness of the situation and was transported by ambulance to Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon for precautionary reasons.

Clarksville police contacted McKenzie police on October 21 requesting them to enter the vehicle into NCIC as stolen. The victim had contacted Clarksville Police and described the events that occurred in McKenzie. She was advised to contact McKenzie Police about the incident. According to the victim, her boyfriend, Cordero Quarles, 30, of Humboldt, forcibly grabbed her car keys, bit her finger, and pulled her hair. Quarles drove away in her vehicle without permission.

Quarles has two active warrants in Clarksville for other incidents prior to this one. The vehicle was later recovered in Clarksville but Quarles was still at large at press time. Additional warrants have been filed by McKenzie Police.

Theft and Burglary — McKenzie Police received a call Sunday afternoon, October 24, regarding a subject being in an Elm Street apartment without permission. Mark Boaz and Jeff Winberry responded and found Terrance A. Butler, Jr, 30, of McKenzie, outside of the apartment with two other subjects. One subject advised officers that Butler had taken mail from the mailboxes that did not belong to him. After questioning Butler about the mail, he admitted to taking it and was arrested for Theft and Burglary.

Meth Possession — Sgt. Kyle Beauchamp made a traffic stop, on Tuesday, October 26, on a black and yellow Chrysler, for illegal window tint and a brake light not functioning.

The driver, Brittany Hill, 30, of McKenzie along with a passenger, granted permission for a search of the car based on past history known by McKenzie officers. During the search, a pair of socks were found containing two glass smoking pipes with burnt residue inside. One pipe had a crystal-like substance field tested positive for Meth. A vile was also found and tested but the test was inconclusive.

Hill was cited for Possession of Meth and Possession of Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia and given a verbal warning on the brake light and window tint.

Simple Possession/Casual Exchange — Tuesday evening, October 26, McKenzie police were called to a Walnut Lane residence regarding an individual with a bag full of various needles and methamphetamines. According to the report filed by Officer Tanner Jackson, he and Sgt. Trey Boucher responded and were advised by the resident that Lacey Cozart, 29, of Gleason, had arrived with several bags. Someone in the residence searched the bag to make sure it had nothing illegal in it and found a lock box containing a small amount of Meth and several syringes including one with a brownish/red substance. A field test confirmed the Meth.

Cozart was arrested for Simple Possession of a Schedule II narcotic and Possession of Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia and transported to Carroll County Jail.

Theft of Merchandise — Officer Jeremiah Brooks responded to a local business, on Tuesday afternoon, October 26, in reference to a theft of knives and forks. An assistant manager advised that employees noticed a customer had knives and forks in her purse. The customer, Linda Lewis, 78, of McKenzie, was found and questioned. She was banned from the store and cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court for Theft of Merchandise.

Domestic Assault — Carroll County 911 received a call Thursday evening, October 28, regarding an active domestic assault in progress. The call was transferred to McKenzie Police Dispatch.

According to the report filed by Sgt. Cody Coleman, he and two other officers responded and initially spoke with the victim who was initially reluctant to give details. Coleman contacted Carroll County dispatch and learned that the victim told them that Jonathan Goodrum, 35 of McKenzie, had hit her in the face and wrapped his hands around her throat. The victim told Coleman she didn’t want to press charges but Coleman responded that it didn’t work that way.

Goodrum, was questioned and confirmed most of the details but advised that when he told her he was leaving her, she told him he would be going to jail. Goodrum was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault and transported to Carroll County Jail.

Criminal Trespass — A Memphis man was arrested again for Criminal Trespass on Friday, October 29, after a local convenience store notified police that a person indefinitely banned from the store had been there. Officer Jeremiah Brooks located Maurice Lawrence, 28, of Memphis, walking towards another business and confirmed via dispatch that he was banned. Lawrence was arrested and transported to Carroll County Jail.

Disorderly Conduct — A Walnut Street resident contacted McKenzie Police, Friday evening, October 29, requesting to speak to an officer about a court-issued protection order.

Officer Tanner Jackson and Sgt. Trey Boucher were dispatched and spoke with the resident. According to the report by Jackson, Ruby Wyatt, 54, of McKenzie had apparently arrived unexpectedly and was causing a problem with a female visitor. She was cited for Disorderly Conduct and told if she came to the residence again she would be charged with Criminal Trespass.

Traffic Charges — A McKenzie resident notified police and a vehicle owner, Friday evening, October 29, that she witnessed a hit-and-run on Woodrow Avenue. She advised police that she observed a Ford F-150 pickup sideswipe a parked vehicle and leave. Sgt. Trey Boucher responded and was shown the truck that hit the vehicle. He found a piece of the vehicle on the truck’s bumper. The owner was found to be David Greer, 69, of Bradford, who admitted hitting the vehicle. Greer was cited into General Sessions Court for Leaving The Scene of an Accident and Violation of Financial Responsibility Law.

Driving On Suspended License — Sgt. Kyle Beauchamp made a traffic stop on a red Chevy pickup for speeding through a school zone on Friday, October 29. The driver, Billie Jo Hardwick, 48, of McKenzie, was found to be driving on a suspended license and was cited for the offense. She was verbally warned about the speeding offenses.

Driving On Suspended License — A McKenzie resident called McKenzie Police and advised she had just been rear-ended in the drive-through of a local business. According to the report filed by Sgt. Kyle Beauchamp, he spoke with the driver and business employees came out to check on the driver. The employees stated that they had seen the accident on their security cameras.

Beauchamp confronted the other driver, Tina Mann, 43, of McKenzie, and found that she was driving on a suspended license. Mann was cited into court on that charge and Failing to Exercise Due Care.
