Domestic Assault — The McKenzie Police Department received a call from a Newsome Street residence on Tuesday evening, March 8 regarding a possible domestic assault in progress. The caller stated that a female was being pinned down by a male subject and unable to get up.

According to patrolman Tanner Jackson’s report, he and patrolman Darren Davis responded making contact with Jason Nolen who had visible red scratches on his neck and face along with a cut on one hand and a torn sweatshirt. Nolen told the officers he asked a female subject to leave his house when a struggle broke out. He advised the female had taken things from him in the past and he was trying to look in her bag to see if she had taken anything. The female had a clear red mark on her neck which appeared to be a handprint.

After further investigation, Nolen, 53, of McKenzie, was charged with Domestic Assault and transported to Carroll County Jail. The officers learned Nolen was currently on probation for Aggravated Assault.

Failure to Appear — On Friday morning, shortly after 1 a.m., Sgt. Trey Boucher went to a Linden Street residence and arrested Joshua Snead, 34, of McKenzie, on a Failure To Appear Warrant out of Carroll County Court. After being arrested, Snead admitted to having Methamphetamine in his possession. A search revealed two small bags containing a powdery substance believed to be Methamphetamine were found in a front pocket. He was additionally charged with Simple Possession of Schedule II Drugs and transported to Carroll County Jail.

Domestic Assault — Shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, March 12, McKenzie Police received a call from Carroll County 911 dispatch regarding a 911 call from a Magnolia Avenue residence. The caller stated that his father was hitting his mother and sister.

According to a report filed by Officer Mark Boaz, he and patrolman Darren Davis responded and the door was answered by crying minor children. The officers spoke to their mother who advised that her husband, Michael Howard, Sr. hit her and pushed her down. Officer Boaz stated in his report that he could tell that Howard had been drinking and saw a 6 pack of beer and a liquor bottle in the living room. Mrs. Howard acknowledged she had been drinking as well.

After Boaz and Davis interviewed family members, Howard was arrested and charged with two counts of Domestic Assault and transported to Carroll County Jail.
