Domestic Assault — The McKenzie Police Department received a call from a Hillview Apartment early Sunday morning, June 12, regarding an altercation that had taken place.

According to a report filed by Patrolman Tanner Jackson, he spoke with the caller, Alan Nunnery of McKenzie. Nunnery advised that he and his girlfriend, Lanisa Powers, also of McKenzie, were traveling home from a local bar when an argument transpired between them.

The argument became physical when Powers bit him on the right hand resulting in a laceration. Nunnery stated he pulled over and removed himself from the vehicle at which time Powers drove off. When he arrived at their apartment, Powers was removing his belongings from the apartment.

Upon questioning, Powers admitted to biting Nunnery’s hand and Officer Jackson also noticed scratches on Nunnery’s face. Powers was arrested for Domestic Assault and transported to Carroll County Jail.

DUI – 2nd Offense — On Saturday night, June 11, shortly after 9 p.m., Patrolman Trenton Ruddy initiated a traffic stop on a Black Chrysler Sebring for a Display of Plates violation. The Sebring pulled partially off the road after Ruddy activated his lights. Ruddy observed the driver, John L. Johnson Jr’s eyes to be bloodshot and he had slurred speech. Johnson did poorly on two field sobriety tests which resulted in his arrest for DUI #2 and transported to Carroll County Jail.

Multiple Charges — Officer Jeremiah Brooks was dispatched to the parking lot of a local business on Thursday morning, June 2 regarding inappropriate behavior in front of a business across the street.

Brooks spoke to the suspect, Ronald E. Pate, 66, of McKenzie, who admitted to the behavior. A license check revealed that Pate’s license was revoked and did not have proof of insurance. He also was found with an open beer in his vehicle. Pate was cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court for all charges.
