McKenzie Routs Stewart County, 13-3

McKENZIE (April 26) — The McKenzie High School Rebels hosted the Stewart County Rebels Monday for a non-district baseball contest. McKenzie rode two big innings to a 13-3 victory in six innings.
After a scoreless first frame, McKenzie plated a run in each of the second and third innings. Stewart County took the lead with three runs in the top of the fourth, but McKenzie answered with four in the home half. The host Rebels added four runs in the fifth, then scored a pair in the sixth to end the game early.
Brandon Boaz led the McKenzie offense, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Jake McDaniel went 2-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and three runs scored. Jackson Cassidy was 3-for-3 with a walk. Hayden Hixon went 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and two RBIs. Phillip Smith was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Eli Surber went 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. Zayden McCaslin was 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Ty Anderson went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base. Ethan Travis was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Hayden Hixon earned the complete-game win for McKenzie, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out two and walking two in six innings.
