McKenzie Splits with Milan

McKenzie traveled to Milan for a non-district contest on Tuesday, January 25 splitting games with the Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs.

Lady Rebels 59, Lady Bulldogs 25
A strong first half put the Lady Rebels in the driver’s seat against the Lady Bulldogs. McKenzie led 15-4 after one period and exploded for 28 points in the second period including six three-pointers while holding Milan to just seven points for the first half 43-7.

McKenzie was in cruise control in the second half leading 53-17 at the end of three periods and went on to win 59-25.

The Lady Rebels had three score in double figures led by Savannah Davis with 15 points followed by Kylie Reynolds and Briley Auvenshine with 13 points and 11 points respectively. Dani Dyer added eight points along with Madison Gilbert with six points. Katie Chesser and Hannah Dillingham had three points each for McKenzie.

Milan was led by Ashley Williamson with 10 points while Kaidence Morton had seven points and Melissa Currie had six points. Shylah Phinnessee chipped in two points for the Lady Bulldogs.

Bulldogs 39, Rebels 36
The boys game started off slow but stayed close from start to finish. Milan led 8-7 at the end of the first period and continued to lead 19-16 at halftime.

The Bulldogs outscored McKenzie 11-5 in the third period to hold a 30-21 lead heading into the final period during which McKenzie outscored the Bulldogs 15-9 but wasn’t enough to overcome their deficit and lost 39-36.

Bryson Steele led the Rebels with 11 points followed by Marquez Taylor with eight points. Zayden McCaslin had six points while Zay Webber and Tate Surber had four points each. Bryant Haynes contributed three points for the Rebels.

Milan was led by Gabe Scott with 11 points followed by Jadarius Robinson with eight points and Andy Westbrooks with five points. D’Yonte Lumpkin and Carmelo Jones had four points. Easton Yates and Kam Tharpe chipped in two points each for the Bulldogs.
