McKenzie wins Rebel Rumble with Stewart County

The McKenzie Rebels defeated the Stewart County Rebels 9-3. McKenzie scored all their runs in the first inning to take a 9-0 lead over Stewart County until the fourth inning.
Stewart County was shut down in the first inning with two strikeouts served by Tate Surber.
McKenzie chalked up nine runs off of eight hits in the first inning. Jackson Cassidy singled to left field. Hayden Hixon walked down the line to first base. Ty Anderson singled to right field to score Cassidy and Hixon. Tate Surber singled to the left side. Dawson Brush took Surbers place at first base. Nolan Renfro singled to left field to score Anderson. Lane Anderson doubled to right field to score Brush. Hayden Garrett doubled up the middle to score Renfro and Lane Anderson. With the top of the lineup coming back to bat, Garrett sat in scoring position. Cassidy singled to score Garrett. Hayden Hixon knocked the ball over the left-center fence for a two-run home run. The McKenzie Rebels led 9-0 at the end of the first inning.
The Stewart County Rebels were scoreless until the fourth inning. Matthew Brown Galvin reached on an error. Hayden Wallace doubled to center field to score Galvin.

Stewart County added another run to the board during the sixth inning. Galvin walked down the line to first base. Wallace followed him after six pitches. Sammy Heflin singled to left field to score Galvin.
Stewart County’s final run came in the top of the seventh. John Walsh walked down the chalk to first base. Colin Smith grounded into a fielder’s choice to move Walsh to second base. Galvin grounded into a fielder’s choice to score Walsh.
The McKenzie Rebels topped the Stewart County Rebels 9-3.
Tate Surber threw 5 and a half innings for the McKenzie Rebels. Surber faced 25 batters and handed out ten strikeouts. Surber gave up five hits, three walks and a total of two runs. Ty Anderson relieved Surber during the sixth inning. Anderson tossed to six batters and gave three strikeouts to Stewart County.
The McKenzie Rebels will travel to Waverly on Tuesday, May 2 to finish off their regular season. The Rebels will host the district tournament this season. McKenzie will play the winner of Houston County and McEwen on Friday, May 5 at 5:00 p.m. in a single elimination game.
