McKENZIE — McKenzie High School juniors learned about the swine operations of Tosh Farms, based in Henry. The juniors were apprised of the operations and the job opportunities at the livestock, trucking, and farming company. Three baby pigs were in the auditorium for the students to see. Those three went to new homes at the end of the program.

Representing the company were Mariah Richardson and Audrea Washburn — Human Resources Generalists, Jody Trout- Swine Service Technician, and Taylor Camp- Baby Pig Technician.

Tosh Farms is a family-owned business and consists of three separate enterprises working together in a synergistic fashion; Tosh Farms is a general partnership and the crop production company, Tosh Pork, LLC is the swine production company and Bacon By Gosh, Inc. is the transportation company. Tosh Pork provides care from birth to market, approximately 30,000 sows that produce over 750,000 market hogs each year.

Many people know of Tosh Farms, but many do not know what Tosh Farms is all about. The company is working to change that by visiting local area schools and informing students of the wide variety of opportunities which range from entry level to skilled trade to bachelor degree required positions.

Tosh Farms employs around 420 full-time employees today with a projected growth to 500 employees within the next year.

With substantial growth such as this, Tosh Farms hopes to inspire young students today to be passionate about the agricultural industry. Most importantly, Tosh Farms strives to positively impact the community and create long-term opportunities for individuals to participate, learn, and grow within agriculture.
