One Patient Airlifted After Three-Car Wreck

McKENZIE (June 5) — One driver was airlifted following a three-car accident at the intersection of State Route 423 and Carroll Lake Road on Sunday afternoon.

The wreck involved a pickup truck, a van, and a compact car, the driver of the compact car, Donald Baumbarger, 72, of Cedar Grove was extricated by McKenzie Fire and Rescue (MFD) and transported by Baptist-Carroll County EMS to the medical helipad provided by new owner, the McKenzie Industrial Board. It is reported the driver was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Involved in the accident were: Mark Lynch, 62, McKenzie, driving a Chevrolet pickup truck and Mia Prince, 19, Brownsville, driving a 2019 Ford Edge with a passenger, Kaley Bennett, 18, of Jackson. Lynch was issued a citation for failure to yield.

Responding to the scene was MFD, Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Carroll County Rescue Squad, and Carroll County Fire Department District 10 (Macedonia).
